| Cherished for his clean, concise technique and admired for his glamorous and versatile aesthetic, Fernando Haddad has become one of New York's most respected young makeup artists. Born and raised in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Fernando always held an eye for classic beauty and universal inspiration, but it wasn't until he started studying International Relations at the Catholic University that Fernando met a classmate who inspired him to pursue makeup as a passion and a profession. After spending several years at work in Latin America, where his skill and vision landed jobs as the head makeup artist for spreads in Elle Mexico, Harper's Bazaar Mexico and various others, he ventured to the US in hopes of further developing his craft. Shortly after his arrival, Fernando found himself acting as first assistant to top artists in both Los Angles and New York. His work for Paul Starr had Fernando creating faces for magazines such as Vanity Fair, Vogue and Elle, while his apprenticeship with Linda Cantello saw him working on productions for the likes of V and Italian Vogue; both offered experience with various, high-profile campaigns and top celebrities. In 2005 he began working for Fulvia Farolfi an artist who would become both a mentor and a friend, and who has guided him even deeper into the intimate avenues of the fashion world. Under her eye he would continue to work on top campaigns, behind the runway at the seasons most sought-after shows, and with some of the world's preeminent photographers. It was around this time that Fernando's solo career began to take off as well and since then he has seen his work in a variety of both indie and classic venues: lookbooks by downtown favorite Samantha Pleet, presentations for uptown icon Donna Karan, fragrance campaigns for the likes of Nicole Miller and editorials ranging from spunky Paper Magazine to the exemplar New York Times Magazine. Most recently his work has been included international favorites like Brazilian Vogue and Random magazine out of the UK. As an artist he is respected for his sophisticated creations, haute sensibilities, precise savvy, and for capturing the moment with total ease. As a person he is adored for his calm, soft-spoken character, warm loyalty, unrelenting charm and the original vitality he brings to both life and work. Fernando is based in New York. |
